Dr. Chon is board-certified in both Internal Medicine and Radiology. He initially started his journey in medicine believing he was going to pursue a career in Cardiology. However, after completing his Internal Medicine residency at the Feinberg School of Medicine at Northwestern University, he decided to become a radiologist after realizing his passion was in helping direct patient care by interpreting advanced imaging and performing minimally-invasive, image-guided procedures.
He specializes GI and GU imaging, and has special interests in uroradiology, oncologic imaging and cardiovascular imaging. He also has a direct interest in working at systems levels to provide value-based healthcare to the community in Oahu. He is excited to be able to serve the local community by bringing everything he has learned from his past experiences to this calling.
He was born and raised in Virginia, and has a B.S. in Chemistry and B.A. in English Literature from the University of Virginia. After being a part of a private practice group in the Chicagoland area, he moved to Oahu in 2019 to help his wife be closer to her family in Japan. He enjoys the unique cultural experience that Oahu and the other islands have to offer. In particular, he enjoys learning more about the amazing culinary offerings available on-island. He considers himself an avid Washington DC sports fan, and is cheering for his home teams when he is not working.
