Dr. Larvie studied chemistry and biochemistry at the University of Washington. He then went on to pursue his medical and graduate education in Boston. It was there that he developed his interest in radiology as he found he could apply his education and training in biochemistry to his passion for patient care through the field of molecular imaging.

His first faculty position at Massachusetts General Hospital and Harvard Medical School focused on advanced neuroimaging techniques, particularly PET and MRI, to diagnose and treat neuromedicine disorders, particularly those of normal and abnormal brain aging, such as Alzheimer disease. Dr. Larvie has published in this field and continues to look for meaningful ways to integrate advanced imaging into daily clinical practice. He also has broad experience in the fields of machine learning and artificial intelligence and is eager to apply these in collaboration with patients and our other medical colleagues.

Prior to joining the Pacific Radiology Group, he most recently served as Chief of Neuroradiology and Director of MRI at Detroit Medical Center, where he was responsible for those areas at multiple hospitals across the Detroit metropolitan region. In this role, he vigorously pursued best radiology practices focused on quality, safety and collaboration both within the department of radiology as well as with other medical and surgical disciplines in the health care enterprise. He is excited by the opportunity that PRG presents: to bring the best possible medical imaging to patients in Hawaii using the most appropriate technologies.

While he grew up playing a variety of sports, including hockey and snow skiing, he is thrilled to now to explore the majesty of Hawaii’s oceans and mountains.
